Consumer Technology Association announced today that Kinsey Fabrizio will become president and CEO, while long-time CEO Gary Shapiro will continue serving as executive chair, officials said in a news release.
CTA each January hosts CES, the electronics show that is one of the biggest annual conventions in Las Vegas, generating millions for the tourism economy. The leadership transition takes effect May 1.
“The executive board is proud of the strength and continuity this transition brings, and deeply excited for how it sets CTA up for continued success,” said Pat Lavelle, industry executive advisor for the CTA executive board in a statement. “With Gary and Kinsey in their new roles, we move forward with confidence, focus, and a shared commitment to our future.”
Fabrizio joined CTA in 2008 and has driven transformation across both the association and CES, officials said. As president, she serves on CTA’s executive board and oversees core business units and operations. In 2025, she testified before Congress advocating for a federal framework for artificial intelligence. She created CTA’s health division and pioneered digital health initiatives at CES.
“I am grateful for the last 18 years I’ve spent learning from Gary, seeing firsthand how he advocates for our industry, our members, and CES,” Fabrizio said in a statement.
Shapiro began leading CTA in 1991 during a 35-year tenure that expanded the association’s influence alongside the technology industry’s growth. He transformed CES into the largest annual U.S. trade show and testified before Congress over 20 times on technology issues.
“This transition is part of a long-planned succession,” Shapiro said. “I’m excited to continue to partner closely with Kinsey to keep driving progress for the tech industry and CES.”
