Investors swoop in again, but do they bring a stigma?

Investors are increasing their share of the Las Vegas Valley housing market, renewing the debate about whether that’s good or bad news. Absentee buyers — primarily investors and some second-home buyers from out of state — purchased 45 percent of homes sold in Las Vegas in February, up from 43 percent in January.

Report: After increase, home prices dropped in January

Housing prices have tumbled across the Las Vegas Valley during the recession as foreclosures have spiked.

Las Vegas-area home prices retreated in January as measured by the influential Standard & Poor's Case-Shiller Home Price Indices issued today. After rising 0.2 percent on a month-to-month basis in December, prices in Las Vegas fell 0.5 percent in January, Standard & Poor's said today in its report.
