A Henderson man died Wednesday evening in a motorcycle accident on a stretch of interstate in suburban Kansas City, Mo. The Missouri Highway Patrol said Shane N. Bliss, 21, Henderson, died after he lost control of his 2005 Suzuki motorcycle on Interstate 470.

Officers handed out more than 500 tickets to motorists for running red lights during a three-week enforcement that ended on Friday, the Henderson Police Department reported.
Five officers have been selected to become members of the Thunderbirds, the U.S. Air Force’s top jet demonstration team. The Air Force announced the appointments, which will be effective for the 2014 demonstration season, last week. The Thunderbirds are based at Nellis Air Base in Las Vegas.
A Las Vegas attorney faces up to 38 years in prison after he was found guilty Friday in federal court in Las Vegas of tax evasion and money structuring charges. Paul Wommer, 60, Las Vegas, was convicted of three counts of structuring financial transactions, one count of tax evasion, and one count of making and subscribing a false tax return, statement or other document, according to Daniel G. Bogden, U.S. attorney for the district of Nevada.

One of Southern Nevada’s largest shopping centers — the Galleria at Sunset mall in Henderson — is set to undergo a $7 million renovation, its first since it opened in 1996. Construction is scheduled to begin this month and is slated for completion in the fall.
