Sorry for the employees -- the documented ones -- that lost their jobs. But face it -- those jobs were phony "construction bubble" jobs sustained by loan fraud. Good riddance to this company. To the HVAC wannabe installers: learn a new, practical skill set.
Correction: Installation
Why does this article not mention Converse Consulting by name? THAT is the inspection firm that repeatedly falsified inspection documents, floor by floor, claiming to have inspected the re-bar instillation, when in fact they were NOT do so. They were merely pocketing the fees, if not do something even more venal in lieu of carrying out their serious duties. Converse Consulting is the main villain here, though by unfortunate extension, Perini is also liable.
The oblique and mere passing reference to Converse is curious, to say the least.
Hardly putting your best foot forward, Las Vegas. Rossi was fine. The new bum is regarded as an idiot in the real world. At least the $60K salary isn't as high as one might have feared.
Just gotta root for this gal and her pluck. But why doesn't the story say anything about how or where one can find her?... Active1, your link is for a seemingly completely different operation in Nor. Cal's East Bay (and we might even have a trademark issue here, but I, for one, am not telling, as much in the U.S. copyright and trademark law is ridiculous, anyway).
What a specious load of cr@p packaged in a pompous wrapper of phony, legal "expertise" CynicalObserber tries to fob off on us. The "anti-Okie laws" struck down by the Supreme Court have nothing to do with water rights. And that was an equally dopey argument to allege that northern Nevadans are campaigning "make Las Vegans move away" (his quotation marks, not mine). Those are your "FACTS."
Michaelmm,
Don't like the "massive canal across the country" idea any more than I like Pat Mulroney's similar notion, whatever it is. If the power bill alone only to pump water from the Pacific to LV would cost $400 mil. every year, what on earth would it cost to pump water from ten times further away, across the Continental divide and up the Rockies Mountains?? And beyond whatever the yearly power bill to pump the water would be, the construction costs would be O.U.T.R.A.G.E.O.U.S.
Keep on Buckin'. Not thinking long-term has been the vice of far too many around here. Unfortunately, as they get their just desserts, we're all dragged down with them.
By the way, that post by "henrywilliam127" (who, perhaps, not so coincidentally just joined today) sure seems like spam...
Stupid over-investment and lack of gate-keeping by elected officials has led to yet another failure. Chapter 11 today, Chapter 7 tomorrow. Let's learn from this stupidity and never allow the developers to run wild and rape the local economy again. Only plywood salesman are doing well.
Buck Wargo,
Thank you. The rewrite removes the ambiguity about Ms. Sperl's remarks.
Lookout for a pair of ignorant fanboys of the bum, above. NOBODY comes to Vegas because of him. Nobody outside of here even thinks of him, except when he makes a stupid remark. Even then, they just think, "that was a stupid remark." And then they forget about him and Vegas, and resume their lives.
Talk about a dopey belief. Because we pay attention to him here, everybody else around the country is too, and flocking here for it?? Durrrr.....
