"people loosing their rent money is what built las vegas. Pioneering spirit... pffff"
"Loosing"? Huh?
"There must be a Time Limit on Completing the Exterior of these buildings and a requirement to tear them down if they fail to meet obligations."
Uh, no thank you. We respect private property out here.
Those who look at these buildings as opportunity are those who are possess the same pioneer spirit that built Las Vegas. We need more of that, for it is what will save the city and propel it into the future.
Jerry, alcohol is part of our culture. In fact, it's probably time to lower the drinking age to the voting and dying-for-your-country age. You sure sound like a lot of fun to have at a party. Sheesh.
This is the beginning of the end for many businesses that rely on a workforce of "independent contractors" to perform the work, and yet try to make those independent contractors as accountable as employees without providing all the minimum required wages, tax accountability, and more. You cannot have it both ways.
An off-the-cuff remark made by an executive likely positioning his company to buy the place at a steal is news?
Sure. And the Mayans predict the world will end ... just in time!
Good thing John Paulson doesn't buy into this Chicken LIttle mentality. Nor did any of the pioneers who built this city.
Nice to see the reinvention of the Strip pick up in pace recently. That said, I'd think an editor would have redirected the descriptive of Echelon as "failed." Boyd was just provided another extension to complete, and there is no indication that it has abandoned the project, just delayed it. "Failed" = editorializing.
It is one thing to find yourself in a tough situation that requires a tough decision. It is quite another to say, out of the gate, that it is "okay" to absolve oneself of personal responsibility and accountability, to demonstrate that one's word (or, signature, in this case) means nothing when things get tough.
Oh, and that persistent excuse that it is okay because "the coroprations are doing it"? Sounds like the argument I used to make to my mother when I was ten years old, to which she would reply, "I don't care what Johnny down the street is doing; you aren't Johnny down the street."
Exactly.
Congratulations to the Simon Group on securing such a large scale lease for 25 years. Nice indicator.
