Want to Book a Flight on Allegiant - Be vigilant of all the Add-Ons they attempt to up-charge you - unless you watch for the UN-Check Box OR this may be your most expensive way to go most places. Plus Never expect to fly cross Country on One Fare, I almost always find Southwest cheaper without those "Bag Fees".
Robert - You hit the Nail On The Head. This "Reporter" totally misses all the points you state because he would have to do actual investigative journalism. Not the Five Dollar throw something at the wall article he presents.
Absorption Rates, Price Appreciation Forecasts, Population Stability, Economic Activity of the Region, Average Incomes, Net total cost to operate a household, etc.. All must be considered. I see many neighborhoods where homes are selling in the Low 100's, yet renting for 1,200 to 1,400 a month. Can anyone find an accountatnt that will tell you if you plan on living there for 5 years or more it does not make sense to purchase at a 3% Fixed interest rate.
As more and more homes are Investor Owned the attachment of many residents to Las Vegas will continue to decrease. Politicians need to Listen, Institute Payroll Taxes on incomes over 100k per year and keep User Fees low for workers and the poor, institute Tax Fairness by charging the Mining Industry, Casinos and even Outdoor Ticketed Events fair taxes to support raising the educational standards. Build a Premier Health Care system to stem all the negative publicity Nevada is experiencing in the Senior Community as a poor place for people with medical problems to retire. Improve Zoning dramatically to increase the quality of life - we don't need a service station at all four corners of every intersection in front of a strip center.
Build smaller neighborhood roads and slow traffic via congestion as most other cities do to prevent deadly accident. Of course you need a rapid, rational mass transit system.
Raise the Educational Standards for All Student and Teachers to allow students to compete anywhere, if Nevada cannot provide jobs, prepare then to leave instead of being stuck in the service industry.
Below is a list of Colleges AND Universities in Houston. Including the Top Rated Cancer Center in The World. Education Must Come Before the Job Creation Piece. Look to the Bay Area, Boston, Raleigh,NC and many many others. If you train your population to Clean Rooms - don't expect to get Physicians or Electrical Engineers.
It looks like they are going for that typical Las Vegas Strip Center Look so there will be no compelling reason to go there. They need to look at their mix of Merchants and Dining Options and Grow the Existing Center, instead of cutting down trees so a few people can park. They may also want to venture to Tivoli Village to see a far superior project in Summerlin if they want to build a street. I find Henderson has lost the zoning battle and now looks like Las Vegas and its miles of ugly Strip Centers. On the Whole there are few to no interesting shopping options where a Local Resident would want to spend much time. We have major Shopping Centers built by the top Real Estate Corporations on the Strip, Yet when we get to the "Locals" malls they are Uninspired, Boring and places you want to leave as quickly as possible. These major Corporations have the Ability to know what to do, however they will never do it here with our poor political leadership willing to go along with Any contractor, at the expense of the Locals quality of life.
