Richard Petty Driving Experience replaces Dale Jarrett Racing at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway

The Dale Jarrett Racing Adventure is leaving Las Vegas.

It will move from the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina, the company announced today. It had been operating at the Las Vegas speedway since last year.

The move resulted from an exclusive deal signed last month between the Richard Petty Driving Experience and the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

"While we are disappointed at this unexpected development, on a positive note, the past nine months in Las Vegas has given us the opportunity to successfully test and improve our management strategy for national expansion," said Tim Shannon, chief executive of the Jarrett Racing Adventure. "Additionally, the experience gained will certainly benefit us in the future as we look to expand our operations and build our business going forward."

Shannon said the company also is looking to expand in Texas, Chicago, Kentucky, Atlanta and Miami.

Owners of the Petty experience signed a multi-year agreement Oct. 31 to be the only stock car driving outfit at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The company has operated there since the track opened in 1996. The Petty Driving Experience, which operates at 23 other race tracks nationally, will be open in Las Vegas more than 200 days a year.

Both companies offer customers a chance to drive or ride in stock cars on a professional NASCAR track.
