Sultry dining spot pays homage to Paris; Planet Fitness pumped for new location

The Strip welcomes two new restaurants, and a health club chain debuts its seventh valley location.

Also, a boba joint has set up shop across from UNLV.

Meanwhile, a downtown eatery is paying tribute to Paris' Red Light District.

      Mr. Chow arrived in Las Vegas with the opening of its Caesars Palace restaurant Dec. 15.

      The 1,600-square-foot restaurant offers traditional Beijing cuisine.

      Facets of the space include a wine room with more than 150 selections and a champagne lounge at the casino-floor entry.

      There is seating for 250 people, with three private dining rooms, seats at the bar and four terraces, according to a news release.

      It is the seventh location worldwide.

      Mr. Chow is open 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 5 to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

      A boba spot opened this month across the street from UNLV.

      Chewy Boba Company debuted Dec. 9 at 4632 S. Maryland Parkway, Suite 19, near East Harmon Avenue.

      The 1,200-square-foot business specializes in smoothies, macarons and teas, including boba — sweetened tea normally served over small balls of tapioca.

      The decor includes handmade furniture and a mural of a “Welcome to Chewy Boba” sign painted by a Florida artist.

      Chewy Boba is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day.

    • A Planet Fitness location, like the one above, will debut Dec. 31, 2015, at the Decatur Crossing Center, 230 S. Decatur Blvd., Suite B-100.

      Health club chain Planet Fitness will open its seventh Las Vegas Valley location today.

      The 17,500-square-foot space will offer “cardio and strength equipment, circuit training and flat screen televisions, as well as access to unlimited fitness training, private locker rooms and changing areas,” according to a company news release.

      The company, which promotes itself as a judgment-free zone, also allows members to design a training program with help from a fitness instructor.

      The business, at 230 S. Decatur Blvd., Suite B-100, near Meadows Lane, will be open all day, every day.

      Planet Fitness was founded in 1992 and now has more than 1,000 locations.

      Jardin, a relaxed-dining setting, debuted Dec. 18 at Encore in the space formerly occupied by steakhouse Botero.

      The restaurant, which offers a patio and views of the Encore pool, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

      The menu highlights American cuisine, including Maine lobster rolls on Cuban bread, short rib hash and herb-crusted salmon, according to the restaurant's website.

      Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

    • F. Pigalle, a tribute to the Red Light District in Paris, opened downtown on Dec. 15, 2015.

      A sultry dining spot has opened downtown at the former location of Radio City Pizzeria.

      F. Pigalle, 508 Fremont St., near Las Vegas Boulevard North, debuted Dec. 15.

      The fondue eatery acts as a “culinary tribute to Paris’ Red Light District,” according to a company news release.

      The design includes private red booths, an outdoor bar space and French newspapers on the walls.

      Unlimited wine is served in baby bottles as a “tribute to a Parisian glass tax levied on stemmed glasses in the early 1800s,” the release said.

      Hours are 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. daily.
