Sales of previously owned homes take off in February

Las Vegas used-home sales shot up last month from January as prices largely stayed flat again.

Buyers picked up 2,112 single-family homes in the Las Vegas area in February, up 12.4 percent from January and 7.5 percent from a year earlier, according to a new report from the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors.

The median sales price of single-family homes was $220,350 last month, up 0.6 percent from January and 7.5 percent from a year earlier, the GLVAR found.

The real estate trade group reports data from its listing service, which is made up largely of previously owned homes.

According to the GLVAR, the median sales price of single-family homes has hovered around $220,000 since June.

As the GLVAR sees it, February’s results show the housing market “weathered the traditionally slow winter months with steadily rising home prices and sales and appears poised for a solid spring sales season” when sales volume typically climbs.
