MGM Resorts finalizes sale of Railroad Pass

MGM Resorts International has completed its sale of the Railroad Pass casino to a local real estate professional, the company said today.

MGM first announced the sale of the historic Henderson property, which bills itself as the nation’s longest-running casino, in September. New owner Joseph DeSimone is still in the process of getting license from regulators, but the property’s operations will be led by gaming licensee Marcus Suan via Marcus Gaming LLC in the meantime.

The Nevada Gaming Commission OK’d Marcus Gaming as the operator of Railroad Pass on March 26.

“We wish the new owner and operator of Railroad Pass and its employees much success with the future operation of the property,” said Dan D’Arrigo, MGM’s executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer, in a statement announcing the sale’s closure. D’Arrigo said that MGM will “continue to focus on our growth efforts in both the United States and internationally.”

Railroad Pass opened in 1931 and fell under the purview of MGM Resorts when it acquired Mandalay Resort Group in 2005.
