Gaming Control OKs license for Irish-themed taverns

Golden Gaming cleared a regulatory hurdle today on its way toward operating four more taverns in the valley.

The Gaming Control Board approved a restricted gaming license for the Irish-themed taverns that Golden Gaming is converting into its new brand, Sean Patrick’s . They join an already extensive list of Golden Gaming taverns, including includes dozens of PT’s and Sierra Gold locations.

Jeff Rodefer, Golden Gaming’s general counsel and chief compliance officer, told the control board that the price tag for the taverns was $2 million.

The taverns previously operated under the names Molly Malones, Sean Patrick’s, Morrissey’s and Kavanaugh’s. They are closed until Oct. 1 while the properties change hands.

The gaming license application now heads to the Gaming Commission for final approval.
