Dick’s Sporting Goods coming to Fashion Show mall

A long-vacant department store space at Fashion Show mall has a new tenant.

Dick’s Sporting Goods has signed a lease to occupy the former Bloomingdale’s home furnishings store, Fashion Show spokeswoman Janet LaFevre said today.

The sports equipment and apparel retailer plans to open by September or October, according to LaFevre.

Its 99,000-square-foot space, off Spring Mountain Road just west of Las Vegas Boulevard, is apparently the largest vacancy at Fashion Show, a 2 million-square-foot mall on the Strip that’s popular with locals and tourists alike.

Interior construction work at the store is underway, LaFevre said.

Dick’s, with $6.8 billion in sales last year, had 603 stores in 46 states as of Jan. 31, according to a regulatory filing. It has one store in Nevada, at Galleria at Sunset mall in Henderson.

A spokesperson for the Coraopolis, Pa.-based chain could not immediately be reached for comment.

Bloomingdale’s, owned by Macy’s, closed shop at Fashion Show in early spring 2013. It opened there in 2002.

Chicago-based General Growth Properties, the second-largest U.S. mall owner and former developer of the Summerlin master-planned community, owns Fashion Show.
