Restaurant/entertainment hub, grocery chain expansion coming to Las Vegas

New businesses offering goods and services ranging from bras to high-end cheese are coming to Las Vegas. Here are a few recent announcements from the local business scene.

    • The 60,000-square-foot area at the south end of Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile Shops will be transformed into a restaurant and entertainment hub known as Harmon Avenue this fall.

      The 60,000-square-foot area at the south end of Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile Shops will be transformed into a restaurant and entertainment hub known as Harmon Avenue this fall. The addition of eateries such as Buffalo Wild Wings and Texas Land & Cattle will provide visitors with a variety of dining experiences. An expanded sidewalk and new streetscaping will give Harmon Avenue a different feel as well.

      The Miracle Mile Shops are open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.

      A 24-hour Walgreens opened May 14 on the Strip, just north of the SLS. In addition to regular Walgreens goods and merchandise, the 17,200-square-foot store offers customers a selection of sushi, fresh fruit, premade sandwiches and parfaits. The new store will also feature a pharmacy and provide clinical services including immunizations and health tests.

      Lingerie and loungewear boutique Soma opened its doors May 16 at Fashion Show mall. Believing that “the right bra can change your world in an instant,” according to the brand’s president Laurie Van Brunt, the boutique will offer products such as the Vanishing Back Bra and the Stunning Support Bra and services such as free expert bra fittings. Bra sizes run from 32A-44G.

      Boutique hours are from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

    • Several Vons and Albertsons stores across the valley were converted into Haggen grocery stores in June.

      Several Vons and Albertsons stores across the valley will be converted into Haggen grocery stores in early June. The new stores will feature a variety of popular brand goods as well as locally sourced products and high-quality meat and seafood. Every Friday through Sunday, the new store will provide shoppers with a three-day sale offering discounts on various items. Some of the stores set to be converted include the Albertsons on Bicentennial Parkway and the Vons store on Rampart Boulevard.

    • The first Murray’s Cheese shop in Nevada opened May 19 at the Smith’s Food & Drug Store at Las Vegas Boulevard and Windmill Lane.

      The first Murray’s Cheese shop in Nevada opened May 19 at the Smith’s Food & Drug Store at Las Vegas Boulevard and Windmill Lane. The shop features more than 175 types of international specialty cheese products, and employees are trained to assist shoppers seeking the right type of fresh-cut cheese.
