Clark County’s taxable sales up 10.1 percent year over year in June

Clark County businesses produced $3.6 billion in taxable sales in June — 10.1 percent higher than in the same month a year ago, according to the state Department of Taxation.

Statewide, taxable sales rose to $4.8 billion, an increase of 9.5 percent compared with the same month a year ago. Nine of the state's 17 counties posted increases, with Mineral County recording a 201.9 percent increase and Storey County 108 percent. On the other end of the spectrum, Esmeralda County recorded a decrease of 30.3 percent.

In Clark County, sales in furniture stores increased by 20.8 percent, electronic businesses posted a 17.6 percent gain and construction materials were up 13.6 percent. Car sales in Clark County rose by 4.2 percent, and bars and restaurants showed a gain of 6.4 percent.

The state collected $94.7 million as its share of the sales tax, an increase of 7.9 percent compared to the same month a year ago.
