Longtime University of Nevada, Reno gaming researcher William Eadington will be inducted in to the American Gaming Association’s Hall of Fame in November, the AGA said today.
The AGA said this is its highest honor and that Eadington will also receive a Special Achievement Award for Gaming Education.
He is a professor of economics and director of the Institute for the Study of Gambling and Commercial Gaming at UNR.
Eadington is an authority on the legalization and regulation of commercial gaming and has written extensively on the economic and social impacts of the industry.
“We owe Dr. Eadington much of the credit for our current understanding of the economic and social impacts of commercial gaming,” AGA CEO Frank Fahrenkopf Jr. said in a statement today. “His deep knowledge of the industry’s economics and his insights on the legalization and regulation of commercial gaming have been invaluable. Indeed, his work has not only served our industry; it also has served the countless communities that have benefited from commercial gaming.”
Eadington and other inductees will be inducted during the 2011 Gaming Hall of Fame Charity Dinner and Induction Ceremony Nov. 1 at the Venetian.
Other inductees this year include Las Vegas Sands Corp. Chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson, chef Charlie Palmer and the Blue Man Group.
Proceeds from the Gaming Hall of Fame Charity Dinner and Induction Ceremony benefit the National Center for Responsible Gaming.
Separately, the AGA today said Gavin Isaacs, CEO of Shuffle Master Inc. of Las Vegas, will join the AGA board. Adam Rosenberg, global head of the gaming investment group for Goldman Sachs, was named a director-elect.
