Las Vegas is frequently described as a Disneyland for adults.

But increasingly, we’re adopting the family side of Disneyland.

The amusement behemoth this weekend opened its fourth local Disney store, at Fashion Show Mall.

The store will celebrate its debut Aug. 17 with a magical celebration where children will be able to meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse and participate in giveaways.

The newly-designed shop features a castle, theater and 12-foot trees that act as backdrops for projected images. It will host story time, trivia events and an imagination parade, during which children can wear masks and parade around the store.

To open the shop every morning, a child will be chosen to turn a giant lock – the "key to imagination."

District manager Lori Pulliam said the company chose the 5,500-square-foot Fashion Show location because of the mall's central placement on the Strip and the fact that it caters both to locals and tourists.

Disney also will create several Las Vegas-specific items to sell at the store, Pulliam said.

The shop will employ 50 people full time and more during the holiday season.

It is open 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

The valley is home to three other Disney Stores,, one in Meadows Mall, one at the Las Vegas Premium Outlets on South Grand Central Parkway and one at the Las Vegas Premium Outlets South at on Las Vegas Boulevard.
