Manor Health Care Center Inc., owner of a Las Vegas nursing home, was accused of trademark infringement in a lawsuit Wednesday.
HCR Healthcare LLC of Toledo, Ohio, filed the suit in U.S. District Court for Nevada.
HCR says that since 1969 or earlier it's been using the brand "Manor Care."
The suit also says it has "ManorCare Health Services" facilities including two in Northern Nevada in Reno and Sparks.
The suit says Manor Health Care Center, which is on Del Webb Boulevard in Summerlin, has been infringing on HCR's trademarks, has been directed to stop doing so but continues to do so.
"Defendant's use of 'Manor Health Care' in providing health care and related services is likely to cause confusion, and may in fact have already caused actual confusion, among the public and within the health care industry, with plaintiff's services offered under the Manor Care family of marks," the lawsuit charges.
Officials at Manor Health Care Center, which has a city of Las Vegas business license dating to 1999, couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
