3 companies announce expansion into Southern Nevada market

Three companies said today they’ve expanded in or to the Las Vegas-area market.

New York City-based Gilt Groupe Inc., an online apparel retailer, said it has opened a distribution center in North Las Vegas at 4340 N. Lamb Blvd., near Craig Road and east of I-15

Gilt said the center will house merchandise from Gilt's West Coast suppliers and improve the company's supply chain by speeding up delivery of merchandise.

Gilt Groupe also has distribution centers in Brooklyn and Louisville, Ky.

About 75 jobs will be created by the opening of the North Las Vegas center, Gilt Groupe said.

The center will be operated by American Cargo Express Inc. of Newark, N.J., which specializes in shipping and warehousing. This is the first warehouse in the Las Vegas area for American Cargo Express, which also has warehouses in New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Miami, Houston and Los Angeles.

Separately, FirstService Corp, of Toronto said it acquired Excellence Community Management, a Las Vegas-area residential property management services company managing some 38,000 units.

Jamie McCafferty, founder and CEO of Excellence, will retain a significant equity stake in the company and continue to manage its day-to-day operations, FirstService said.

The deal lifts FirstService's management contract total to 5,000 properties with more than 1.3 million residential units.

In the Las Vegas area, FirstService already owns RMI Management LLC.

RMI's management portfolio includes more than 260 associations representing some 90,000 condominiums and single-family homes throughout Nevada.
