Father, son killed in house fire ignited by boat explosion

A teenage boy and his father were killed and three others were hospitalized Thursday after a boat explosion caught a home on fire near Carey Avenue and Revere Street. Las Vegas Fire and Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said witnesses saw the father working on his boat when there was an explosion.

One person died and two were injured in a five-car crash on Interstate 215 near Sahara Avenue around 7 p.m., Nevada Highway Patrol Sgt. Kevin Honea said. A man driving a black Chevy Tahoe had failed to slow down for traffic and slammed into a stopped Mini Cooper going an estimated 55 mph, Honea said. The collision killed the driver of the Mini Cooper and injured the passenger. A person in a separate car was also injured.
