Las Vegas HEALS (Health, Education, Advocacy and Leadership of Southern Nevada) will honor six local physicians for their contributions to the community: Drs. Joseph Adashek, Desert Perinatal Associates; Rutu Ezhuthachan, United Healthcare; Mitchell Forman, Touro University; Oscar B. Goodman Jr., Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada and Roseman University of Health Sciences; David Steinberg, Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging; and Dylan Wint, Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.

Rebecca MacDonald is vice president and market leader, Theresa Le is vice president and senior trust officer, and Maximus Nguyen is a wealth financial adviser at Bank of the West.

Tara Foy is ballet mistress at Nevada Ballet Theatre. Foy has had a relationship with Nevada Ballet Theatre for nearly 30 years and previously coached principal dancers at New York City Ballet, the Royal Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, the Bolshoi Ballet and the former Kirov Ballet.

Patricia Sanchez retired this month. She was a shareholder at Gerety & Associates and has been a certified public accountant in Las Vegas for more than 30 years.

Clark County Commissioner Susan Brager is a member of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority’s Board of Directors.

Marcus Armstrong is health care cost outcomes director at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. He previously worked as system director of accounting for the Valley Health System.

The Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers created the Jens Halle Memorial Award Honoring Excellence in Commercial Gaming Professionalism and the Peter Mead Memorial Award Honoring Excellence in Gaming Media and Communications. Halle, a longtime Bally and Novomatic executive, died suddenly May 20 at the age of 57. Mead, the founder and publisher of Casino Enterprise Management magazine, died June 24 at the age of 54. The first Jens Halle Memorial Award was presented to Halle’s widow, Marietta, and son, Jordi. AGEM will create a nominating panel to recognize one person annually who represents the personal values and professional commitment for which Halle was known. The first Peter Mead Memorial Award was presented to Mead’s mother, Solveig Berg. In subsequent years, it will go to a deserving gaming journalist or company communications professional.

Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center teamed with the Clark County School District and Nevada Department of Rehabilitation to be a job-training site for Project Search, a national organization that helps people with disabilities learn the skills needed to be employed. In other news, Sunrise’s Heart Center implanted the first Sapien 3 Transcatheter Heart Valve in Southern Nevada. Cardiologists Branavan Umakanthan, Fareed Sheikh and Rafael Valencia, cardiothoracic surgeon Nauman Jahangir and anesthesiologist Kendall Truelsen performed the procedure.
